I want to introduce you to the new love of my life, Borax. Borax is an all natural resource which is amahhzing but also scares people because you can mix it with the wrong things to make it acidic and harmful. Well I'm not here to tell you how to abuse it. You can read the pros and cons of borax here to draw your own conclusion. I'm here to tell you how you should be buying borax on your next Target trip and slowly adding it into your life. Here is a short list of wonderful things borax can do for you:

Clothing & carpet stain remover

all purpose cleaner

dishwasher detergent booster

pest control

rust remover

weed killer

ant colony killer

preserve fresh flowers

help browning or non blooming flowers

shampoo replacer & hair softener

and the list goes on.

For the recipes for the cleaning check out this site. For a shampoo & hair softener recipe check this one out. And if you just love the damn stuff as much as me then sign up to receive offers from 20 Mule Team Laundry (USA only obvs). It's available on Amazon if you can't find it in your country. If you are in Sweden, well, you can borrow mine or smuggle it back from the US in your luggage like me because Amazon doesn't allow people to ship it to Sweden.

Now on to the funnest part of borax. POKEY SLIME! Peeps my ages would just know this as slime but apparently kids had to add pokey to the name. Its quick and easy to make and uses ingredients you probably already have in your house (except Borax, silly head. Go buy some now)! If you Google pokey slime you will get hundreds of different recipes and videos and include nobody over the age of 12. If you don't have kids, like myself, it will make you question your life choices as to why you are spending a weekend watching 10 years olds teach you how to spend your time. However, IF you have kids then build this into your weekend plans.

Needed:

A bottle of white glue- In US is there even any other kind than Elmers?

A can of shaving cream- NOT gel

Borax

Water

Food colors & glitter if you want to add to your slime to make it fun. DUH!

Bowl & mixing utensil

measuring spoons and cups (or trust the eyeball method)

storage jar (i used an old salsa jar. Come on, be sustainable and use one too).

Instructions:

1. In a bowl, mix 1 tsp of borax into 1 cup of water (at this rate you'll be able to make bulk batches for

2. Wal-mart given the size box of borax you bought).

3. In a separate bowl, mix around 1/2 cup of glue with roughly 1/2 cup of shaving cream (again, i eyeballed so who really knows).

4. Add food coloring and/or glitter for desired result, mix.

5. Slowly add borax/water mixture and mix until desired texture. Seriously...go slow...you probs won't use the entire 1 cup.

Maintenence: If it ever gets sticky again then mix some more borax/water mixture and slowly add it to the mix until its back to normal.
